Endless_Vacation_Mag_2013 You may encounter an entirely different winter sport during your trip to Lake Chelan—snowga. During Winterfest, Lynda Kennedy of Yogachelan leads special snowshoeing-and-yoga outings through the snowy vineyards and up by the cross-country trails at Echo Ridge. (Kennedy also teaches more traditional yoga classes year-round at her studio in Chelan, and drop-ins are always welcome.)
Sharing Travel Experiences’ online article titled, “6 Great De-Stress Winter Spa Treatments and Activities.” This piece encouraged readers to try Snowga and mentioned Lake Chelan’s winter wine and chocolate festival. I first heard about 'snowga' at Lake Chelan (which also has a winter wine and chocolate festival – talk about good people to know), but it’s a hot trend happening at many of the popular resort towns. It doesn’t surprise me I guess, as I have even done a yoga class myself the day after a rough ski day, so the combination does make sense.
For those seeking an opportunity to explore the area’s forest trails, “snowga,” a combination of snowshoeing and yoga, offers an innovative Northwest alternative to the traditional winter biathlon. Washington Journey Magazine, produced by AAA, named Lake Chelan their Destination of the Month for January.
